Prose: One Common Factor [Mini Read]

This colossal world grows rapidly at the blink of an eye – a heartbeat no pair of its wondrous inhabitants bound to live the same experiences not strangers, not identical twins but there’ll always be one mountain each have walked, are walking or will;

The march up the vast ruggedness trail
is listening with trust to harsh voices
taking each critique personally to heart
often failing to truly hear the positives
with each of the negatives far bolder
each will change parts and hide others
becoming someone not meant to be;

If time is fair, they’ll finally realise
how none of it was for greatness
one day their head will raise above
& they’ll see their worth in the stars
a journey from the top will begin
maybe they’ll have all the right gear or
they may won’t, but they’re bound to get there;

Each step may be painful & lengthy
maybe some people will be left
worry needn’t – it’s for the best
those people were never meant to stay
in their lives – these individuals’ harsh words
and painful actions were all lessons
to a life they were always destined to live;

Rocks fall on this steep climb down
each one will pound them with a sense
of needed apologies to those left behind
at random times each one will do so
they’ll look back and blame themselves
for a thing that’s never been their fault
for a thing that’s always been essential

 A blue smiley face yarn bowl held above items including the Spring At Blueberry Bay book on a pastel polka dot background.

Apologising for something you never did is hard if it’s another someone else forcing it but when it’s you, it’s to another level. I hope, if you’re on the path down too, that you get there soon. 💜
