Poem: From The Second [Mini Read]

A Halloween candle, LED faux autumn leaf lights and other autumnal items on a grey fleece blanket

From the second she entered my life
I knew that there was something special
about her, that she’d change my world
as if my soul knew hers would complete it
then we spoke and it was if my heart
knew that my soul was right all along
I was lost, not looking, my mind
somewhere else – then it let me love
picking up the jigsaw pieces of my self
but said “she can’t love such a mess as you”
then, one night, she said “be my mess”
