About Tig

Your neighbourhood ray of sarcastic sunshine fighting inequality and underrepresentation.

Hello!

I’m Tig, he/them, a writer, nerd and advocate from Somerset, UK.

If you asked, I’d say childhood was dreamy.

I’d say, and laugh sarcastically as I do, that of course there’s some buts.

First of all, the treatment I faced from many adults was ridiculous and traumatic. I was abused at my first school for being disabled and failed by many medical staff.

Secondly, the representation was so severely lacking that it still painfully shocks me. The only toy wheelchair we could find was a Build A Bear one that was promo’d as injury, not disability.

These things only impacted me more as my health spiralled.

My voice was silenced by uncaring professionals and the fact that I was one of the millions missing, almost housebound.

But, today, I’m rebuilding my voice – even talking about topics I’ve felt unable to my whole life but which matter.

I’m eager to, with the little energy I have, advocate for a better, more inclusive world and delve into taboo topics that shouldn’t be taboos.

I also aim to give a helping hand to representation and teach others how to make their businesses and platforms accessible to all.

So follow along on the journey – because, my gosh, it might be slow and take a while but I have plans 👀

Lots of Love,

& Big Gentle Hugs,

Tig x
